The Fox is as classic to the West Coast paddling communities the way The Kaituna is to the North Island. The Fox however offers a totally different paddling experience to the Kaituna. The Fox starts just downstream of the glacier. Put in above the rapid under the foot bridge over the river. This is your warm up. As soon as the river turns the corner, often disappearing in mist and fog, it ramps up into class IV boulder gardens that continue all the way to the take out. The water is the coldest you’ll paddle but this run is worth it for the world class “read and run” boulder gardens!
